Why Cleaning Is Important
Regular cleaning helps maintain the appearance, performance and lifespan of your Maleco Automatic Pool & Spa Cover.
Outdoor covers are exposed to dust, leaves, rain, chemicals, sunscreen, body oils and other environmental contaminants. If these are not removed regularly, they may build up on the surface and affect the look and condition of the cover over time.
Keeping the cover clean also helps reduce wear on moving parts and keeps the system operating smoothly.
Recommended Cleaning
Clean the cover regularly using fresh water and a soft cloth or sponge.
For general cleaning, rinse the cover with clean water to remove dust, dirt and loose debris. If required, use a mild soap solution and gently wipe the surface.
After cleaning, rinse thoroughly with fresh water and allow the cover to dry naturally before closing it for an extended period.
Do Not Use
To avoid damage to the cover surface, never use:
Harsh chemicals
Bleach
Solvents
Abrasive cleaners
High-pressure cleaners
Sharp tools or scrapers
Acid-based cleaning products
These may damage the surface finish and are not recommended.
Damage caused by incorrect cleaning products or improper cleaning methods is not covered under warranty.
Best Practice
Remove leaves, dirt and debris regularly.
Rinse the cover with fresh water.
Use only mild soap if needed.
Clean with a soft cloth or sponge.
Keep guide rails and drainage areas clear.
Do not allow chemicals, sunscreen or oils to remain on the surface for long periods.
Allow the cover to dry before long-term closure where possible.
Important Note
Spa chemicals and chemical vapour can affect cover materials over time. Always maintain correct water chemistry and ventilate the spa regularly.
Regular cleaning, correct water balance and proper ventilation will help keep your Maleco cover in the best possible condition.
